RS AERO UK WINTER SERIES
Results after 8 events

Three more events since the last update and the UK Winter Series is entering its final stages. We now have 72 RS Aeros in the series after our impressive 47 at Oxford!

It is not all about quantity though, but quality too. Ten RS Aeros headed down the English peninsula to Roadford despite 'Storm 10' in the forecast....and those who braved the Midlands gales at Blithfield on one of the coldest weekends of the winter.

The rig choice option works well for the travelling fleet, safe in the knowledge that they have a better chance of the right rig on the day. This promotes enjoyment, participation (both starting and finishing races) and ultimately safety too.

Next up is the infamous challenge of the Exmoor Beastie at Wimbleball SC on the 19th followed by the series finale, the UK Spring Championships at Island Barn SC on the 25th March.

SAILJUICE UK Winter Series
Fantastic to see so many RS Aeros supporting this popular UK mixed class winter series this season. 45 RS Aeros have so far entered an event and the RS Aero 7s with 33 entries are incredibly the third largest class after the Laser and RS200 fleets.

Once the RS Aero UK Winter Series got underway we saw great turnouts peaking so far with 19 RS Aeros at the Bloody Mary. The Tiger Trophy is now in two weeks time on 4/5 Feb and although the same weekend as the Starcross Steamer offers a great central location nationally.

Most incredibly, 4 weeks in advance, we already have 22 RS Aeros now signed up for The Oxford Blue on 18 Feb. This incorporates our RS Aero UK Winter Champs and we have Winter Training on that Sunday at Oxford following Saturday's racing too, with Hannah Snellgrove and Paul Robson. Our previous Oxford Blue entries of 25 and 27 from the past two years look set to be beaten and Oxford invariably reach their 140 boat limit - so be sure to enter well in advance to not miss out!

RS AERO UK WINTER SERIES
Great to see so many entries coming in for the Winter events. Overall in the SailJuice Series the RS Aero 7s are the 2nd biggest fleet currently entered! Plus a few RS Aero 9s & 5s too...
Coming up soon we have;

BRASS MONKEY - Yorkshire Dales SC, Tue 27th Dec
Entry is now full and the RS Aero 7s have 6 entries, the 4th largest fleet and qualifying for fleet prizes!

GRAFHAM GRAND PRIX - Mon 2nd Jan
6 RS Aeros are signed up. 3 races are scheduled to make for a big day out and an awesome way to stay in shape and race ready.

BLOODY MARY - Queen Mary SC, Sat 7th Jan
THE annual classic with upto 350 boats! The French are joining us in this year to sample this iconic winter event, gathering National momentum for their hosting our World Champs in France in July. The RS Aeros 7s are currently the largest class signed up with 8 entries - plus one RS Aero 9!

Also the OXFORD BLUE on Sat 18th Feb incorporates our annual RS Aero Winter Champs which are always well supported. The later date will provide better daylight and 3 races in a good fleet makes for a very worthwhile big day out.

RS Aero UK Winter Series 2016/2017
Dust off those extra layers and get set for another Wintery challenge...

The RS Aero UK Winter Series 2016/2017 will kick off straight after Christmas again at Yorkshire Dales’ Brass Monkey and comprise a selection of 10 challenging key events. Part of the RS Aero series shall be made up from events in the GJW Direct SailJuice Winter Series and from events in the South West Winter Series.

The ten venues will provide geographical spread and support to fleets. Sailors will count their 3 best event scores allowing most to compete in a couple of close by events and then travel once. Two pinnacle events are included again with at least one of the counted results to be either the popular RS Aero UK Winter Championships, held at The Oxford Blue again at Oxford 18th February or the UK Spring Championships hosted in 2017 by the new fleet at Island Barn Reservoir, West London on 25th March.

This winter the RS Aero UK Winter Series visits 3 new venues. In February the series includes the final event of the Blithfield Barrel series at Blithfield SC in the North Midlands. In March the fleet will sample the infamous Exmoor Beastie at the picturesque Wimbleball SC in Somerset for a full tour of Wimbleball Lake. Ultimately the UK Spring Championships will be the final showdown event of the series at Island Barn Reservoir SC.

This Winter the 10 events are;

- Brass Monkey - Yorkshire Dales SC, Tuesday 27th December (SailJuice)
- Grafham Grand Prix - Grafham Water SC, Monday 2nd January (SailJuice)
- Bloody Mary - Queen Mary SC, Saturday 7th January (SailJuice)
- Steve Nicholson Trophy - Northampton SC, Saturday 28th January
- Starcross Steamer - Starcross SC, Exe Estuary, Sunday 5th Feb (SW Series)

- Roadford Rocket - Roadford SC, Devon, Sunday 26th February (SW Series)
- Exmoor Beastie - Wimbleball SC, Somerset, Sunday 19th March (SW Series)
