Datchet Flyer (SailJuice) - Datchet SC, West London, UK, 11/12th Dec
90 mixed class small sailboats pitched up for the Datchet Flyer, the 2nd event in the Selden SailJuice Winter Series.
The RS Aero 7s formed a 2nd largest class behind the large contingent of 420s, well done to the Datchet RS Aero fleet for pitching up for a good showing at their home event.
The breeze was light on Saturday with about 5-6kns and just one and a half races were completed. On Sunday the breeze picked up from a light start to about 7-12kn with occasional pokier gusts which allowed for one more average lap handicap race followed by the pursuit race.
The highlight for the RS Aeros was the pursuit race.....

Selden SailJuice Winter Series
Winter is (nearly) here and with it the great mass mixed class events with the Selden SailJuice Series with the Datchet Flyer on 11/12th December. For keen racers, aspiring young sailors and those who like to catch up with old friends in the off season the Selden SailJuice Winter Series is invaluable, providing a year round calendar with big fleet race experience at large sociable events.
The format of 3 handicap races on Saturday & 1 pursuit race on Sunday provides for lots of racing and good variety. The handicap fleets are split, so we will be on a start line with similar speed boats. Average lap racing is used, minimising waiting time in between races. The RS Aeros have seen growing fleets at the Flyer in recent years which enables the opportunity for a good Class race within the larger mixed fleet challenge. We won the Flyer and an airoplane in 2019 - can we win it back in 2021?
