Highcliffe Icicle #2 - Christchurch Harbour, Dorset, 20th January
Round 5 of the RS Aero UK Winter Series 14 RS Aeros pitched up for Day 2 of the Highcliffe Icicle series on Christchurch Harbour, with 10 visitors joining 4 boats from the growing local fleet. A chilly breathless dawn came good as the skies cleared and a nice 8kn rolled in with the top of the tide.
With a total of 36 boats on the mixed class start line competition for pole position was super keen, leading to the first general recall. The tide waits for no sailor and water to race on is a precious commodity in Christchurch Harbour, so the race officer did not hesitate in hoisting his Black Flag to enforce some discipline....

Who is up for the RS Aero's visit to Christchurch Harbour for their Icicle races this Sunday? Their Icicle series is 4 winter Sunday mornings and it is a pretty harbour and interesting race course. This year the 20th Jan Icicle races are part of the RS Aero UK Winter Series (do 3 events from 10 and you are in the draw for a half price RS Aero sail!)
Launch from Highcliffe SC at Mudeford Quay. Two back to back races on the top of the tide around Christchurch Harbour starting at 10:30. All done by 12:30. With lots of Finns, Lasers and RS Aeros there we get a good race against similar boats.
They have a growing fleet of RS Aeros at the 3 clubs on Christchurch Harbour now (Highcliffe, Christchurch & Mudeford), so good to support them. Last weekend they had 6 out and already at least another 7 visiting his Sunday.

HIGHCLIFFE ICICLE Nice to see six RS Aeros out at Day 1 of the Highcliffe Icicle on Sunday together with all the Finns and Lasers.
Well done to Jae Jones of Spinnaker SC in his RS Aero 9 who was top RS Aero in 8th place - his new year's day training paying off!
Lorrian Wells was top RS Aero 7 in 11th, from the 28 starters.
The Icicle runs over 4 winter Sunday mornings and Day 2 coming up on Sunday 20th Jan is Round 5 on the RS Aero UK Winter Series - Save the date!
Two races around Christchurch Harbour at the top of the tide between 10:30 and 12:30 against similar boats for good racing. It's a great morning out! Enter on the day for £2!
