Round the Isle of Sheppey Race - Kent, UK, 9th Sept

This year was a fast one whilst not overly windy at 13-17 knots. The SW wind made the long legs up and down Sheppey a broad reach and a fetch which together with the high tide minimised distance and allowed for fast angles....

Thanks to Tim Olin for the photos and Sailracer for the GPS tracking.

Looks like nice medium breeze and sunshine for the around Sheppey this Sunday.
Good for progress without being too physical!

*Updated forecast (Thurs am). A fraction more wind and more sun, both good things. That SW direction is great for a predominance of reaching. Good for a long distance race and good for RS Aeros. Just a little straight beating entering the Swale.

Who's up for an Aerodventure?

Who is up for something quite different?

We spend much of our sailing time racing circuits around marks - how about a long distance race actually going somewhere and a whole new set of challenges!

At 40 miles this iconic small sailboat island race in Kent will take RS Aeros somewhere between 3hrs20 and 6hrs depending on the wind.
It encompasses open sea, estuary and river sailing and  in recent years has tempted a fleet of between 60-120 starters each year!

This year for the first time there is the option to make a weekend of it with a race on Saturday too.
