LYMINGTON STADIUM RACING - Wed 29 March
The first evening outing of the year and much warmer than the Feb day!
Seven RS Aeros turned out for 5 short races until it was too dark to continue.
A low tide meant we let down any spectators in favour of good racing and went further down the river for a good narrow windward leeward course, very narrow on one beat with the passing of a ferry!
With a good breeze to start with we once again relaxed rule 42 downwind. However as the breeze faded with dusk setting in promoting planing became a role gybe contest for the energetic. All good exercise and practice though.
Liam and Peter started on 'go +30' to chase the fleet and practice their over taking. Liam Lightning beat Peter for the series on tie break. However, you are as ever only as good as your last race and in the winner takes all final it was young George Richards who led from start to finish to take to final win.
You know it is getting too dark when there is not enough light to turn the solar Tactic you are using for a countdown back on for the last start. It was properly dark as we reached the slip - but summer is nearly here!
Thanks to PRO Keith and our Merlin chums, Mark & Lou, for laying the course, taking pics and their sense of humour laying the windward mark so tight in - but we are laying it for them next Wed!
Best wishes to DavidM who is temporally leaving our fleet for his new life on a Thai beach - but great news that his RS Aero is sold on within the club to a super keen sailing family.
Thanks to Lou for the pics, full album
