SUTTON BINGHAM RS Aeros prevail!
Congratulations to our Sutton Bingham RS Aeros who helped their club team fend off ferocious competition from Lyme Regis and Castle Cove (Weymouth) at the first leg of their annual challenge with neighbouring sailing clubs for the Triangle Challenge and the Banbury Chaser Cup.
From 28 boats representing 19 different dinghy classes young RS Aero sailor, Andrew Frost, won the day with two 1st places ahead of double International 14 World Champion Sam Pascoe sailing his Merlin Rocket with sister Megan. Andrew has recently been awarded a bursary by The Rotary Club to support his sailing and competition this summer at the inaugural RS Aero World Championships in France.
Sutton Bingham had strength in depth with Andrew ably backed up by his RS Aero sailing club mate Chris Jones in 6th and his number one supporter, farther Richard, in 4th in his Solo. Chris does a lot of coaching at Sutton Bingham - it must be hitting the spot!
Good luck to them all for the return away matches!
The RS Aero Class look forward to visiting Sutton Bingham for the first time at our Southern Circuit open meeting on 10th June. Event Page
