UK River Championships - Avon SC
A fantastic day's racing on the River Severn with 23 RS Aeros!

We have had a great racing season with our first Europeans, a 70 boat UK Nationals and recently the highly competitive USA Champs and the Garda Aerocup, However, there is one event that really counts above all others as a major test of sailing skill, guile and tenacity and the RS Aero with her agility and ability to accelerate in gusts is really well suited to the type of racing, it's the....
MAGIC MARINE RS AERO UK RIVER CHAMPIONSHIPS
at Avon SC, Gloucester, Sat 8th Oct
This is where RS Aero designer, Jo Richards, sailed through his youth with the testing river sailing environment in which to develop his talents towards winning his Olympic medal. Jo's top tip for river sailing is;
"Sail intuitively, you don't have time to consider a decision! Embrace and enjoy the challenges."

Great news - Magic Marine are sponsoring and are putting up a great spread of lovely prizes this Saturday.
More great news - Ben Rolfe (RS Sailing) is coming up with 3 new RS Aeros for Charter at a bargain rate of just £20 for the whole race day. We have good interest already so don't delay, if you would like to try an Aero at the UK River Champs, or know of someone who would, contact Ben on [email protected] 07814634892
There is no online registration for this one but if you are planning on coming please email [email protected] to let him know, so that the club can get an idea of numbers for the catering.

Entry fee is £10.00 per boat and will include lunch & tea/coffee.
RS Aero 5’s, 7’s & 9’s all welcome and depending on numbers of each class on the day, we will either run class racing or run the races on PY handicaps.
We aim to run 3 races in total with 2 results to count (1 discard).We had 39 boats on the start line for Bart’s Bash recently, so plenty space!
Please email [email protected] to let me know if you are planning to attend, just so that we can get an idea of numbers for the catering. Thank You.

You can not underestimate the challenges and enjoyment of river sailing. In many ways it can prove more interesting than open water, especially in a pretty spot like Avon SC.
This is where our RS Aeros designer, Jo Richards, sailed through his youth with the testing river sailing environment in which to develop his talents. Jo's top tip for river sailing is;
"Sail intuitively, you don't have time to consider a decision! Embrace and enjoy the challenges."
We have an emerging fleet of 7 RS Aeros at Avon SC already with quite a lot more in the surrounding area so come and sample the delights of sailing on the River Severn!
The format is to be confirmed and with a good 60m of width on the Severn here the options are open.

Avon Sailing Club is situated on the west bank of the River Severn at Chaceley, near Gloucester.
