CLUB CHALLENGE at LYMINGTON
With around 40 boats entered and several clubs well represented I propose a ‘club challenge’ where the top three placed competitors from any club or area are added for a team result. We can use the ‘extra’ PY results from the first race of each day, as the whole fleet shall be scored together then.

Clubs qualifying with 3 team members so far are; Lymington Town(14), Chelmarsh(4), Royal Lymington(3), Gurnard(3) and Burghfield(3).
Additionally I suggest we group the remainder into areas as follows;
South East (Hayling, Thorney, Felpham, Sevenoaks, Alton)
South West (Starcross, Sutton Bingham, St.Denys)
Middle England (Reading, Oxford, Great Moor, Broadwater, Burghfield?)
[Groupings subject to change after registration]

I suspect that with just the best 3 sailors to count it wont all be down to team size with visiting Aero strongholds fielding strong teams – watch out for Chelmarsh and Gurnard!

MASTERED
The entry list suddenly jumped up a notch when Olympic Bronze Medallist and RS Aero designer Jo Richards signed up. Jo has known the ‘Aero’ for 3 years longer than anyone else and will be on hand to discuss ‘everything aero’ over a tipple of Vibrant Forest's delicious beer after racing on Saturday….

AERO SPOTTERS
There is a new Aero like no other – and it just might be making its debut at Lymington this weekend! Aero spotters get set to feast your aesthetic pleasures….

Thanks to HARKEN UK for their support of our Lymington RS Aero event this weekend. They have been very generous with prizes and goodie bags at registration.
The hoodies, T's and 'Where's Harken' bobble hats can not be bought - they can only be won so have real prestige and limited edition value! Mark Harper in AUS could do with one of the waterproof rucksacks for his 70 mile RS Aero adventure this Sat. RS Aero sailors can always use another drinks bottle for their rear holder. Wallets, gloves, blocks....to mention but a few of the many prizes.
Make sure you plan to stay for the prize giving....the prizes are going to go a long way!

Camping & Campervanning
Available Saturday night (not Friday)
£5 tents, £10 camper vans; payable via online entry or at registration.
There is access to the hut with WC and water (MUST leave it clean and tidy).
Vans need to be parked in the car park area of their grounds if wet so grass is not damaged.
Directions
Driving - turn left at the exit to LTSC car park into Kings Saltern Road and first left again (straight after the Mayflower Pub). After 200m the Scout Field is clearly identified on the left, just before Nick Cox Chandlers.
Walking - take a short cut through the Mayflower Pub Car Park, then left.

The proposed informal training at Lymington this Friday for those last minute top-tips and a Western Solent 'familiarisation' (the water moves!) is taking place with a planned launch time of 5pm. I hope to run a summary briefing with a quick run through covering tuning/technique from 4.30pm on the lawn outside LTSC.

There is no entry fee! Let me know if you are hoping to attend please; [email protected]

ADDITION TO FORMAT...
Based on the likelihood of a good turnout this event was planned to have separate starts and separate scoring for the 3 rigs. With 32 boats already entered with a week to go we have that good turnout.

At Chelmarsh with 22 boats on the line (25 entries) they went for PY racing which was an enjoyable and interesting challenge.

There are pros and cons, it could be argued both ways and different people will have different preferences. In our first year I think we should seek variety and only then will we have the experience to gauge what works best. However large the Class gets there will always be small events too, so the PY fallback will always be valid.

To achieve some variety, for the sake of fun and experience, LTSC and the Class Association have come up with a compromise;

(1) EVERY race will still be scored separately for each rig.
(2) On the first race of each day everyone will start together and ADDITIONALLY to the separate rig scoring there will ALSO be an overall PY result for those 2 races.
(3) After the first race of each day, the subsequent races will have separate starts for each fleet.

Therefore ADDITIONALLY to the main results sheet we ALSO have two results for whole fleet on PY. Best of both worlds? Something for everyone? Maybe a good plan for the Nationals in August too?
We may even have a Saturday evening interim prize giving on the lawn, over some Vibrant Beer, based on the one big PY race perhaps...

Family Fun at Lymington
Bring the family to a sailing event? "Not likely!" I hear you cry. However, just maybe, Lymington might be an exception with quite a bit too entertain. If you are struggling to slip away alone for your sailing fix on 13/14th June bring them all with you....

For the rest of the family;
- This is also an RS Tera & RS Feva event (on an adjacent course)
- LTSC overlooks Lymington Sea Water Baths with its new range of inflatable assault courses, kayaks and paddle boards - I have been 3 times already this year!
- Bustling Lymington market in the High street on Saturdays
- Milford and Hurst Beach
- New Forest countryside
- Beaulieu National Motor Museum
- The New Forest Wildlife Park
- Ferry trips to Hurst Castle and Yarmouth, IOW
