Endeavour Trophy - Royal Corinthian YC, Burnham, UK, 7/8 Oct
Champion of Champions, UK

The RS Aero Class was well represented at the Endeavour Trophy this year with all four of our RS Aero Class National Champions competing. This is the UK's Champion of Champions' event, with all UK National Champions invited to enter. Racing is held in RS200s on the testing race track of the River Crouch at Burnham. With every boat in the 30 stong fleet a National Champion the competition is red hot from top to bottom and every place is very hard earned!

The RS Aero 5s were represented by Tom Ahlheid, crewed by brother Tristan who also races RS Aero 5s. Ben Whaley represented the RS Aero 6s, crewed by Lorna Glen. Tim Hire represented the RS Aero 7s crewed by RS Aero 5 sailor, Alice Lucy. Ben Flower won our RS Aero 9 UK Nationals this year but at the Endeavour he was identifying as a Solo sailor, having also won their UK Champs. Additionally, many sailors throughout the whole fleet have raced RS Aeros, with 5 out of the top 6 being RS Aero owners or recent competitors.

The RS Aeros had high hopes going into this year's event as Ben and Lorna had just won the RS200 Inland Champs and placed 3rd in the RS200 Nationals. Tom and Tristan had also been training gaining a creditable 6th place at the RS200 Inlands.

Conditions provided a nice fresh breeze on Saturday, enough for the larger crews to stretch their legs. However on Sunday barely any breeze and high temperatures meant no racing was possible and the results from Saturday's 4 races stood, without discard.

Ben and Lorna did really well to take 3rd overall. They would surely have loved an opportunity at the title with some light wind racing on Sunday against the heavier teams. Tom and Tristan sailed well and consistently to take an impressive 6th overall at their first Enveavour. Tim and Alice secured a creditable 16th, also at their first Endeavour, with a huge amount of talent behind them on the 30 boat results sheet.
