Tri-Icicle Pursuit Race - Snowflake SC, Wroxham Broad, Norfolk, UK, 22 Oct

The Tri-Icicle is the opening event which marks the start of Snowflake Sailing Club's winter season. This winter Snowflake SC are based on Wroxham Broad at Norfolk Broads YC rather than on the river at Horning. Therefore, this year the Tri-Icicle was held as a Pursuit Race on Wroxham Broad, rather than a down river long distance race.

Conditions were perfect with a warm sunny day and a nice medium breeze. A wide array of classes took part with a variety of dinghies, small keelboats like Stars and Yeomans right up to the traditional local river classes and River Cruisers with their huge rigs to catch the breeze above the trees on the sheltered Broads and Rivers.

Congratulations to David Cronk of Hunts SC who scored an impressive 4th place from the 24 starters in his RS Aero 7. Who is up for joining this nice day out on the Norfolk Broads next year?

Tri-Icicle Pursuit Race - Snowflake SC, Wroxham Broad, Norfolk, Sunday 22nd October
Sponsored by Jeckells The Sailmakers

This winter season Snowfake SC have relocated from Horning to their new winter base at Norfolk Broads YC's premises on Wroxham Broad. Their big event, the Tri-Icicle on Sunday 22nd October, will be a 3 hour Pursuit Race this year rather than the long distance downstream of previous years.

As before, it will be a wonderful spectacle of the colourful mix of classes with the various traditional local River Cruisers, Half-Deckers and Keelboats duking it out against the modern dinghies in the beautiful setting of Wroxham Broad within the Norfolk Broads National Park. From a staggered start, based on the local %age and RYA PY handicaps, it will be a fantastic challenge of 'chase and be chased' with such a wide variety of racing sailboats!

It would be great to see a good fleet of RS Aeros enjoying testing themselves against the local traditional boats!
