International Pre-Season Training - CN Arco, Lake Garda, Italy, 1-4 May, ITA   ðŸ‡©ðŸ‡ªðŸ‡ºðŸ‡¸ðŸ‡®ðŸ‡ª 🇮🇹🇱🇹
Organised by the German RS Aero Class Association

Report thanks to Marcus Walther:
An American, an Irishman and a few Germans use the opportunity to be shooed across Lake Garda by two Lithuanian women and thus prepare for the 2023 regatta season, which had already started.

The weather wasn't supposed to be Italy-like, but then it changed its mind and gave us four great training days with increasing winds from day to day, so that we could get used to the wind and wave conditions. While the sailing conditions were rather moderate on the first two days, Lake Garda had winds of up to 24 knots on the last two days.

We were trained in two groups, one led by Ausra Stelmaszyk, the other by Gintare Scheidt (2008 silver medal in Laser Radial).

Countless starts, squiggles, buoy manoeuvres, upwind, downwind, jibes, turns and whatever else the two of them came up with was neatly documented on video (so there were no excuses) and then discussed. After a last downhaul course followed by a jibe, during which almost the entire training group checked the carrying capacity of their life jackets, four great days on Lake Garda ended with a last dinner together, of course not without visiting the ice cream parlor at the roundabout in Torbole again.

From here some went straight on to Dummersee for the German ranking list regatta.
