The Tiger Trophy (SailJuice) - Rutland SC, UK, 4/5th Feb
Great to see 11 RS Aeros out amongst 97 mixed Class entries for this year's Tiger Trophy. All four rig sizes were represented with some sailors tempted to switch up a size for a light weekend.
Saturday initialy saw 6-12kn wind for the first two races before it dropped a little for Race 3. Sunday's Pursuit Race was a little lighter with a patchy 6kn dropping to barely any at times - but lovelly spring sunshine!
Tristan Ahlheid was leading RS Aero after Day 1 in about 10th. Joe Scurrah gained a few points in the Pusuit Race to overtake the other two RS Aero 7s to be top RS Aero and 11th overall. 2nd RS Aero in the Pursuit Race was new RS Aero owner Ben Hawkes in his RS Aero 9, keen to try to catch his dad Simon who went on to win the event in his K1!
Tristan won top Youth prize with his 14th, closely followed by brother Tom in 19th. Amongst the RS Aero 6s Sam Blaker pipped Sammy Isaacs-Johnson with Ellie Craig close behind. Classes with more than 4 initial entries were awarded a Class prize and the RS Aero 5 award went to Sophie Stockton who stuck with her initial rig choice! Tom Penty was part of the Top Club team with Beaver SC in his RS Aero 6.
