I had a similar problem with the kicker block pulling out and fixed it with bushs as in the picture. It has an internal metric thread and course outer treat so you get more grip on the GRP than a self tapper. I agree self tappers into thin bits of backing plywood is cheap and poor way of building. I think RS said at the time it was meant to be 1/2 inch ply backing but from the hole in mine you could see it was 6mm max. It's a shame that given the cost of a new boat these items are not backed with modern boat building materials. Reply 26/06/2023 07:32:00

Unfortunately my mainsheet block pulled out today. Is there a recommended repair/remix? Self tappers seem an odd way to go.
