TopTips2020 #1 - by Ben Rolfe, UK

Ben Rolfe needs no introduction. 1st RS Aero 9 at the Garda RS Aerocup 2016 and 4th at the 1st RS Aero 7 World Champs at Carnac in 2017. Ben does an awesome job for the UK Class heading up the Rooster UK Youth Team and their training programme.

Ben sets the ball rolling with 3 gems from the top shelf;

1. Come to Events!!! - We all talk about top tips at events but the biggest tip of all is come to events! They are the perfect place to learn from others and improve on your RS Aero skills. Plus it is a great place to meet new people, socialise and become part of the community! You will then find when returning to your club you get better and better!

2. Take a Punt! - Don’t just stick with one rig. Switch rigs and get used to being overpowered & underpowered. As strange as it sounds, this will help you understand your optimum speed and controls when sailing any rig in any conditions!

3. Commit. The greatest chance of a capsize is downwind. Commit yourself to a downwind 'path', get comfortable and gybe! The more times you commit to a downwind path and gybing, the more chance of future success!

At home now? Check out some awesome downwind videos on the RS Aero website - visualise yourself!
