Mark McNamara, KO Sailing, Texas, USA
Saddened to learn of the passing over the weekend of enthusiastic RS Aero sailor and RS dealer, Mark McNamara of KO Sailing, Texas, USA. Mark was instrumental in suppling RS Aeros and building fleets across Texas and the southern states of the USA. As a keen RS Aero competitor himself he promoted the Texas RS Aero circuit helping to facilitate good racing events and enabling charter RS Aeros so others could join the Class.
Two key legacies that Mark left the RS Aero Class are the 30 boat RS Aero fleet at Viridian Sailing Centre, Dallas, where in addition to supplying the 30 RS Aeros Mark also facilitated the pontoons and 10x3 racking to make the whole facility wonderfully functional and a pleasure to use. Mark also supplied the eight RS Aero fleet at Sailfish Club, Palm Beach, Florida, in the early days, establishing an early RS Aero bubble in the state and a foundation for our subsequent RS Aero North American Midwinter Champs across the inlet at Palm Beach SC. I recall a long phone call I had with Mark a while back where he outlined his exiting plans for further RS Aero sailing activity through southern USA.
