VLAD IVANOVSKIY

Sad news. Our good RS Aero friend Vlad Ivanovskiy passed away for new stars on Friday 5th January after a short illness.
He was big fan of RS, travelling to join us to sail RS Aeros in Estonia, Italy, France and Great Britain. He also raced RS Fevas and RS500s with his family and thought to establish an RS21 fleet in St.Petersburg.

Those who raced against Vlad will remember his great enthusiasm and competitive sprit! Vlad finished runner up in the first RS Aero event held in Estonia in 2016, 3rd RS Aero 7 in the Lake Maggiore International RS Aero Regatta 2018 and went on to achieve a 5th place in the RS Aero 5 European Championship at Garda, Italy, in 2019. Perhaps Vlad's greatest RS Aero achievement though was when his young daughter Alisa finished 3rd in the 2021 RS Aero 5 Italian championship, beating her father!

We should separate apart our feelings towards countries and their individuals. We can remember many good times racing RS Aeros with Vlad - and we also have a reminder of the conflict which can easily be forgotten as time passes.

Farewell Vlad - Sail on!

Vlad's Top-Tip: "Watch the previous start...Pin start. Go left" (in context!), https://youtu.be/joPYsx_Mjj4?t=43 and cherish every good day sailing available.
