Actually it’s the Laser that’s the oddity. Hoisting sail with a halyard is the norm. It’s worse for the sail to be flogging without being attached to a boom. To land on a lee shore, just undo the main sheet. Reply 06/05/2018 03:17:00

Hi All
Relatively new to the aero and rigging. Is it viable to use a traditional type clew strap to fasten to the boom instead of threading boom threw attached loop. Unless I'm doing something wrong seems odd to attach sail in this way prior to fix boom onto goose pin. As laser sailor used to fixing boom to sail once hoisted. Also on Lee shore landing would be easier to detach sail prior to landing .
All suggestions welcomed
