The French RS Aero Championship took place on 7-9 June off Langoz Beach with 19 RS Aeros battling it out on corrected time scoring. For two days, the best sailors competed in well-established wind conditions, with gusts reaching nearly fifty kilometers per hour. Two races were launched on the first day and four on the second, on a course designed by Olympic champion and Loctudy resident Jean-Yves Le Deroff.

The sailors had to demonstrate not only a keen tactical sense to perform well, but also excellent physical condition to master the handling of their boats. These dinghies are designed for competitive sailing. They accelerate very quickly and offer maximum speed sensations, responding instantly to the slightest turn of the helm. 

The competition was very competitive. Irishman Thomas Chaix won the title. Coach of the Irish Olympic team, he won three of the six races. Ludovic Roblin, licensed in Quiberon, took second place. As for Pierre Leboucher of Nantes, barely dropping from the third step of the podium at the CIC Channel Normandy, he once again received a bronze medal. Florence Le Brun of Quiberon finished top female in her RS Aero 5. Three other Loctudists secured places of honour. Emmanuel Gaudez finished ninth, Dominique Gaillard tenth, and Guillaume Gallou fifteenth.

The French RS Aero fleet now looks forward to the RS Aero World Championship to be held in Quiberon, France, in just 6 weeks time and the growing French fleet expects to enter a strong team of over 20 RS Aeros.
