Skiff Cup and RS Aero - Club Voile de Sanguinet, Bordeaux, France, 1-3 Nov

Thanks to Jon Mills for his summary report;
Fourteen RS Aeros entered for the season finale of the French RS Aero circuit on Lac de Sanguinet near Bordeaux for the bank holiday week end of 1st - 3rd November. As part of the Club Voile de Sanguinet Skiff Cup, the RS Aero fleet were given their own class start but with nearly 100 entrants for the event overall the lake was full of sailing activity in warm sunny weather for the entire weekend. The RS Aero Class raced as a mixed fleet with all rig sizes represented with the results based on corrected time, enabling one overall RS Aero score sheet.

Light winds prevailed on Friday (a bank holiday in France) and the race team efficiently managed to get three races completed. Competition at the front of the fleet was intense with constant place changes but after day one, Nico Honor of RS France lead followed closely by Ludovic Roblin with Jean-Marc Goldstein in third.

Everything changed on day 2 in slightly more wind than day one, but again with warm sunny weather. Five races were completed and ex 470 Olympian (Seoul, Barcelona & Atlanta) and RS Aero regular Florence le Brun consistently headed the fleet whilst behind her the competition remained as intense as the day before. Christophe Camilli also fought his way up the leaderboard and at the end of day two, Florence le Brun had moved up from fifth to be leading, with Nico Honor second and Christophe Camilli third.

Two races were scheduled for the final day but with what little wind there was changing strength and direction constantly, the PRO wisely abandoned attempts to get racing going so the results as per the previous day stood.

A great weekend of close racing and fantastic weather on a large picturesque lake. Thanks to Club Voile de Sanguinet for hosting an excellent event.
