This was also the last national regatta of 2024 too also determine the final annual Italian ranking list. Needless to say, the hospitality and organisation by Club Nautico Rimini were, as always, excellent.
Despite the "false start" on Friday 4th October, when there was no launching due to the numerous tree trunks emerging from the nearby river mouth, the event took place on Saturday and Sunday, concluding with 6 beautiful races for all classes and fleets, with winds varying from 6-11 knots. It was also nice to see so many parents joining their children on the water over the weekend, thus creating a large family between parents, coaches and kids from many different clubs from all over Italy.
Six races were held with the RS Aero 5s and 6s starting together but scored separately.
RS Aero 5
The Sardinian Leonardo Nonnis (LNI Cagliari) won over Mattia Monti (CN Rimini), on a tie break. Monti took the satisfaction of winning among the under 17s. Just one point behind, in third place, Riccardo Serra (CV Porto Rotondo Nox Oceani). The domination of Sardinian athletes continues with fourth and fifth place going respectively to Andrea Manconi (LNI Cagliari) and Riccardo Gessa (CV Porto Rotondo Nox Oceani).
Enrico Loi (LNI Cagliari) wins the 2024 ranking list, followed by Andrea Manconi, Mattia Monti, Francesca Ramazzotti (Veliamoci Oristano) and Chiara Sussarello (LNI Sulcis).
RS Aero 6
There was also a good battle for the first two places. Filippo Vincis (LNI Sulcis) won. Andrea De Matteis (CV Porto Rotondo Nox Oceani), was first under 22 and second by just one point. Giulio Sirolli (Tognazzi Marine Village) took third place.
For the 2024 ranking list, the first two positions were the same as the Rimini ranking, with Alice Sussarello (LNI Sulcis) taking third place, Irishman Roy Van Maanen (often present at Italian regattas) fourth, and Giulio Sirolli fifth.
