Swedish RS Aero & RS Tera Championship - SS Kaparen, Gottskar, Sweden, 14/15th Sept

Two new Swedish Champions!

This weekend, 14/15th September, the Swedish Championship was decided in RS Tera and RS Aero in Gottskar. After an uncertain forecast and a postponement, two winners could finally be awarded.

Before the weekend, the forecast was for light winds with an unstable direction. But after 2 hours of postponement on Saturday the sailing lead quickly got through 3 races for both classes. The first race, which was slightly lighter, shifty winds, was spread out. Race 2 and 3 increased tin  wind to upwards of 7m/s and the sailors finished powered up and close together.

Sunday was an equally long day, but without a race. However, it was a good end to the Swedish summer with glorious sunshine. The sailors took the opportunity to change boats, test classes and swim in the water outside Gottskar.

After the three races, Aron Warnberg (Royal GothenburgSS) was crowned Swedish champion in the RS Aero. Worth mentioning is that this weekend's result is his third Swedish Championship win in a row!
Aron said; "It feels good. I sailed technically well and was almost always on the right side as the wind turned. Sometimes it was worth taking extra tacks due to the shifts. Then I was well on the racing line."

In the RS Tera class the first 6 sailors came from different clubs. There, Elin Sundberg (Ljungskile SS) emerged victorious from a tight battle, with a margin of one point.
"It feels very fun, fantastic! It was very fun to have opposition, but I was nervous today when we waited for the wind" says Elin, who is now switching boats to the RS Aero. "Now it's ice cream as the sailing champion! It was nice to finish in the RS Tera so well. Next year I'll challenge Aron in the RS Aero!"
