Halbmodell Regatta - Baltische SV, Steinhude, Germany 8/9 June
12 RS Aeros turned out for a pleasant weekend at Steinhude

Wir machten uns am Freitag nach getaner Arbeit auf den Weg zum wohl zentralsten Regattastandort der Republik. Als wir um 19:00 Uhr beim Baltischen Segler Vereinigung eintrafen stellten wir zu unserer Überraschung fest, dass nur ein Aero Segler vor uns eingetroffen war.

Wir wurden mit einem freudigen Hallo empfangen, ein Standort fürs Gefährt war schnell gefunden und so konnte man die Boote abladen und den ersten Plausch mit lange nicht gesehen Gleichgesinnten führen. Die Vorhersagen für das Regattawochenende waren vielversprechend und so waren wir am Morgen des Samstag etwas überrascht als das Steinhuder Meer sich von seiner glatten Seite zeigte.

Der Samstag startete mit einem ausgiebigen Frühstück und zu unserem Erstaunen schaltete Petrus um 10:00 Uhr den Wind ein. Tatsächlich wehte es mit den versprochenen 12 Kn im Durchschnitt und bis zu 20 Kn in den Böen. Die Wettfahrtleitung machte einen gewohnt souveränen und guten Job und ließ uns 3 knackige Wettfahren am Samstag über die Bahn bringen.

Am Abend erwartet uns ein üppiges Buffet welches keine Wünsche offen ließ. Da aber allen der Regattatag bei bestem Wetter in den Knochen steckte, verkrümelten sich alle recht bald in ihre Kojen.

Der Sonntag zeigte das gleiche Bild von den Bedingungen her wie der Samstag nur, dass Petrus noch einmal eine Schippe oben drauf packte. Für Sonntag waren 2 Wettfahrten angesetzt und einigen im Regattafeld steckte der Samstag offensichtlich in den Knochen. Die Wettfahrtleitung machte einen guten Job und so waren 13:30 Uhr alle Wettfahrten im Kasten.

Leider forderte dieses Wochenende bei einigen Teilnehmern Tribut da einiges an Material zu Bruch ging und auch reichlich Kenternden auf der Bahn zu sehen war. Oder habt ihr schon einmal eine Sharpie bis oben hin vollgelaufen gesehen?

Was bleibt uns zusammenfassend zu sagen. Es war ein wundervolles Segelwochenende, besonderer Dank geht an das Organisationsteam des Baltischen Segler Vereinigung raus. Es ein sehr gut organisiertes und durchgeführtes Segelwochenende.

Wir freuen uns auf ein baldiges Wiedersehen und kommen gern wieder an den wohl zentralsten Regattaort der Nation.

After work on Friday, we set off for what is probably the most central regatta location in the country. When we arrived at the Baltic Sailing Association at 7pm, we were surprised to find that only one aero sailor had arrived before us.

We were greeted with a cheerful hello, a location for the vehicle was quickly found and we were able to unload the boats and have our first chat with like-minded people we hadn't seen for a long time. The forecasts for the regatta weekend were promising and so we were a little surprised on Saturday morning when the Steinhuder Meer showed its smooth side.

Saturday started with a hearty breakfast and to our amazement, the weather turned on the wind at 10 a.m. It actually blew at the promised 12 knots on average and up to 20 knots in gusts. The race management did a confident and good job as usual and let us complete 3 tough races on Saturday.

In the evening, a sumptuous buffet awaited us that left nothing to be desired. But since everyone was still tired from the day of the regatta in the best weather, everyone quickly hid in their bunks.

Sunday showed the same picture in terms of conditions as Saturday, only that the weather was even worse. Two races were scheduled for Sunday and some of the regatta field were obviously tired from Saturday. The race management did a good job and by 1:30 p.m. all the races were over.

Unfortunately, this weekend took its toll on some participants as some equipment was broken and there were plenty of people capsizing on the course. Or have you ever seen a Sharpie filled to the brim?

What can we say in summary? It was a wonderful sailing weekend, special thanks go to the organizing team of the Baltic Sailing Association. It was a very well organized and executed sailing weekend.

We look forward to seeing you again soon and would love to come back to what is probably the most central regatta location in the nation.
