Ullswater Daffodil Regatta - Cumbria, UK, 27/28 April
Thanks to Cathy Lunn for her summary;
A select but elite gathering of RS Aeros took place at the Daffodil regatta over the weekend of 27/28th April at Ullswater. With light cold winds from sub-optimal directions and added risk of frosty nights' camping forecast – maybe others decided against the journey!!
Seven races were held with the RS Aeros joining the slow handicap fleet on a mix of windward/leeward and Olympic triangle/sausage courses, sharing the course with OKs, Junior fleet and a Cruiser fleet only added to the challenge!
Each race saw big gains and losses with those ahead often having the lead taken away at the last minute, to their frustration and their chasers delight! Phil Whitehead taking the overall win in race 2 had to retire after 3 races sustaining injury and putting him out for the remaining racing! That left Keith and Cathy out on the race course for the last race on Saturday. All survived a cold night’s camping following some local hospitality.
Sunday brought one more local RS Aero (Keith Lockley) out to join us for wind to come between the North/Northwest.
Thanks to Ullswater Yacht Club for hosting another great event there!
