RS Aero Florida State Champs at the Rocket Regatta - Merritt Island, FL, USA, Jan 13/14th
Competitors enjoyed a good mix of conditions for a great weekend of racing at the Rocket Regatta. A fantastic turnout of 19 RS Aeros competed in total and raced alongside the Catalina class. The visitors and were treated to a live Falcon rocket launch from Cape Carnaveral in the evening!
Congratulations to the winners; Chris Sinnett of Halifax SA in the RS Aero 5s, Hank Saurage of Pontchartrain YC, LA in the RS Aero 6s and Brian Gilcher of Melbourne YC in the RS Aero 7s.
Thanks to Indian River YC for putting on another great regatta for us, RS for making charter boats available to the Embry Riddle sailing team (who kept getting faster as the weekend wore on), for all those who traveled from far and near to make the competition fun and to Greg Popp for tirelessly supporting the class and hauling the RS trailer.
NEXT UP... The sequel Space Coast Invitational is coming up on March 23/24th the which will be the warm up for RS Fest in Miami the following weekend over Easter Mar30-Apr1st at Coconut Grove SC. Register now for both to aid the hosts in planning.

Saturday started out pretty breezy and gradually backed off. Sunday was lighter breeze with rain threatening later. All the charter boats were packed up right before it started to come down.
The fleet dinner Saturday night was at Dolphins up the barge canal where the fleet had a wonderful meal together.
