Estonian RS Aero National Championship at Parnu Sailing Week - Parnu, Estonia, 24-27 August
The Estonian RS Aero champion has been declared! The Parnu Sailing Week, where the Estonian RS Aero Championship also took place, has ended and the results have been revealed. During the four competition days, sailors had to adapt to wind changes at sea and deal with strong wind gusts that reached up to 14m/s. There were 11 races in total.
Estonia's Hara Sailing Society and Uku Kuusk Sailing School had their first experiences with RS Aeros with this year's new scholarship and ownership scheme, boosting the Youth numbers in Estonia for the build up to the 2024 Youth Worlds in Martrand, Sweden. The young sailors are thrilled with the boat, which is proven by the fact that with the addition of a new class, the drop of teenagers from these clubs has significantly decreased. The children characterise the boat with the following keywords: "light, well controlled, quick responsive and fun".
Ingrid Randlaht, youth coach from Hara YC, says: "After the addition of RS Aeros, we have a shortage of boats, not young sailors! The RS Aero is a game changer for us.”
At this Championship the RS Aero 5 is now the largest Class with all the new young Estonian sailors, which is encouraging for the future.
Many thanks to all the participants and see you at Tallinn Week Regatta on 15-17 September. And of course we continue training together on our RS Tuesdays and Thursdays programme.
