Write-Up

Lake Garda International RS Aero Regatta
Limone, Lago di Garda, Italy, 7-9th April 2023

Ramazzotti, Gatta and Vincis were the winners of the three categories RS Aero 5, 6, and 7

At Limone sul Garda ten races with light to medium wind strength for the 2nd RS Aero Italian National Regatta, very well organized by Limone Garda Sailing. A event that had as a logistic base the Cola Beach, a few meters from the center of Limone, helping people discover the beauty of this stretch of Garda Lombardo.

The final rankings were really close going into the final day, especially in the RS Aero 6 with five competitors in contention just a few points apart. Only Francesca Ramazzotti (Veliamoci ASD, Oristano) was the clear winner in the RS Aero 5.

In the new and numerous RS Aero 6 Class Giacomo Gatta (CN Savio), after a valid experience in the youth double FIV RS Feva, is also now standing out in the single-handed RS Aero class: particularly on the final day at Limone, with two 1st and one 2nd he managed to overcome the direct opponents, gaining the final victory, in front of Leonardo Nonnis (LNI Sulcis), who conceded the leadership, and Francesco Columbano (YC Cala dei Sardi) who came back in third position, equaling the score with Nonnis. Alice Sussarello finished first female.

Among the RS Aero 7s there was a real duel race after race between Filippo Sulcis (LNI Sulcis, Sardinia) and Peter Barton (Lymington, Great Britain). Final victory came down to the final race as Peter Barton drew even after winning the first two, though Filippo Vincis took the final race and the overall title by just 1 point. In third place was Davide Mulas (LNI Sulcis, Sardinia)

After three nice days of sailing the RS Aero fleet has confirmed its spirit of friendship between the participants and the coaches: for everyone the goal is to arrive at the end of July (26-30) in the best possible form to race the upcoming World Championship in Calasetta (South Sardinia), organized by the LNI Sulcis. The next national regatta, which follows those in Ostia (Rome) and Limone (Garda), is scheduled for the end of April in Calasetta (Sardinia).

Guido Sirolli President of the Italian Class explains;
" With the new RS Aero 6 we have completed the offer of this fabulous RS Aero boat of only 31kg hull weight and suitable for athletes from 45 to 95kg thanks to the 4 rig sizes; 5,6,7 and 9 square meters!
 After the Calasetta World Championship in July, thanks to the collaboration with Negri Nautica, we will organize in Rome and Cagliari, from October to November, a series of technical meetings for girls and boys interested in changing classes. In fact, more than 300 athletes from the Optimist and the Open Skiff are interested in finding out with which boat to continue the sailing adventure and we are ready to welcome them! "
