Frensham Frenzy - Frensham Pond SC, Surrey, UK, 11th March
Three RS Aeros 9s joined the Frensham Frenzy this year to enjoy some challenging conditions in a light to medium breeze of about 6-12kns.
The Frensham Frenzy always provides some excellent early season practice with many short legs, shifts, gusts and traffic to test boat handling and quick decision making. That was certainly the case this year with the RS Aero 9s grouped with a the Phantoms and RS100(8.4) to make an 8 boat start final start of fast boats who then had 67 minutes to chase down all the slower early starters in the two pursuit race series.
After a tough but enjoyable day's racing (including a windward capsize dunking!) the top RS Aero made 10th from the 30 starters. At the top of the fleet 4 boats were tied for the title! After tie break the title was awarded to Simon Lomas-Clarke (Solo) who scored a 4,1.
Thanks to Frensham Pond SC for a great day's racing and as ever for their world famous afternoon tea, possibly the finest afternoon tea in sailboat racing!
Next up for the RS Aeros is the first open of the season at Burghfield SC on Saturday 25th March, followed back to back with the Wimbleball Beastie on the Sunday.
