RS Aero UK Winter Championships at The Oxford Blue (SailJuice) - Oxford, UK, 18th Feb

After a predominantly light airs season for the Seldén SailJuice Winter Series, the Oxford Blue delivered a windy climax to the nine-event competition. Robust breeze averaging 20 knots with a few bigger gusts, courtesy of Storm Otto, made for an exciting and hectic race track on Farmoor Reservoir. In total 85 entries from 37 classes competed at the Oxford Blue, another diverse entry and the RS Aeros made up a large proportion of the fleet with 15 entries.

Even in the fresh breeze the hikers and especially the RS Aeros held their own. Arran Holman took 3rd just ahead of Joe Scurrah in 6th, both in RS Aero 7s. The RS Aeros have much to claim here....Occasional RS Aero 5 sailor Alice Davis & crew Oliver Rayner blitzed the event taking all 3 wins in their 420. Behind Alice, Abby Hire was 2nd Female and 2nd Youth in her RS Aero 5. Our current RS Aero 7 UK Champ Jack Lewis & crew Morgan Smith raced their 2000 into 2nd place in 4th was Jack Holden who podiumed at our first RS Aero 7 UK Champs back in 2015 - and even David Oughton, who presented the prizes for Oxford SC, is a keen RS Aero owner!

Extracting the results between just RS Aeros in each race for a purer RS Aero UK Winter Championship altered the overall order in a couple of places after the extra 'traffic' was removed - ex UK Chairman Richard Watsham got the best of that jumping up the RS Aero rankings from 7th to 4th! However, the key places remained the same;

1st RS Aero 7 & RS Aero UK Winter Champion - Arran Holman
1st RS Aero 6 - Tom Penty
1st RS Aero 5 - Sam Blaker
