Polarcup - Vasteras (JKV ), Sweden, 13th NovThe Polarcup at JK Vasteras followed the last day of training before the winter break for the Swedish RS Aeros.
Congratulations to local Vasteras sailor Axel Almersson on winning the only race in the RS Aero 5 Class that it was possible to hold - and to Carl Furhoff for his win in the RS Aero 7 Class!
The reason for just one race was thick fog and light wind,
Stefan Almersson reports;
'Fog was the problem. There was 15'C and sun the day before for a great training day and the temp on Sunday was only 4'C. Sometimes in the autumn we have fog when there is big temp diff from one day to another. After a postponement there was not so much fog so they decided to try to get a couple of races. Ok conditions at start but the wind faded as the race went on and they shortened the course. The fog became thicker so we could hardly see the sailors, they became grey shadows out of the fog - like Black Pearl in Pirates of the Caribbean. That was the end of racing, with thick fog and the wind disappeared.'
