Day 1 saw bright sunshine, sparkling seas and a steady 8-9 knot breeze across the course. The race team from Club Nautique Locturdy did an excellent job of ensuring quick race turnarounds to make the most of the afternoon breeze and complete four races. Working the shifts whilst heading to the right of the course paid throughout the afternoon, however those that ignored the shifts hoping for a benefit from going far right paid a price. Keeping clear air became a priority approaching the windward mark as the fleet came together. Nico Honor of RS France and Ludovic Roblin from AAN Port Blanc both showed strong boatspeed throughout the day to be first and second at the end of day one. Positions behind them were close with those challenging the leaders changing places on virtually every leg.

 

On the Saturday evening RS France sponsored dinner in the beautiful garden of one of the local fleet members. Excellent food and wine and amicable discussion - what else would anyone expect in France.

 

Day 2 saw slightly less breeze but still strong and steady enough to complete three races back to back along with sunshine and warm weather. As the races were held earlier in the day, the incoming tide became more of a factor, especially nearing the windward mark with several boats having to tack frequently as they got pushed to leeward by the current on the track in to the mark. Nico and Ludovic again showed their superior boatspeed with Nico winning the event overall, Ludovic second and local sailor Huber Martin in third due to a good set of more consistent results.

 

Planning for the 2023 National Chamionships are already underway which will certainly be held somewhere warm and beautiful with fine French food on hand - international entries will of course be made very welcome. The next big event for 2022 is the RS Aero Open event at Carnac over three days on the 2-4th September held alongside Breizhskiff - so a large turnout is expected!

Les Championnats de France RS Aero se sont déroulés dans la belle ville bretonne de Loctudy les 23 et 24 juillet 2022 par un temps magnifique et des vents soutenus. Vingt-sept Eros inscrits, soit près de 60 % d'inscriptions en plus par rapport à 2021 avec des participants venus de toute la France.

 

Le premier jour a vu un soleil radieux, une mer étincelante et une brise constante de 8 à 9 nœuds sur le parcours. L'équipe de course du Club Nautique Locturdy a fait un excellent travail en assurant des rotations rapides pour profiter au maximum de la brise de l'après-midi et boucler quatre courses. Travailler les quarts de travail tout en se dirigeant vers la droite du parcours a payé tout l'après-midi, mais ceux qui ont ignoré les quarts de travail en espérant tirer profit de l'extrême droite en ont payé le prix. Garder l'air clair est devenu une priorité à l'approche de la bouée au vent alors que la flotte se rassemblait. Nico Honor de RS France et Ludovic Roblin d'AAN Port Blanc ont tous deux montré une bonne vitesse tout au long de la journée pour être premier et deuxième à la fin de la première journée. Les positions derrière eux étaient proches, ceux qui défiaient les leaders changeant de place à pratiquement chaque étape.

 

Le samedi soir, RS France a parrainé un dîner dans le magnifique jardin de l'un des membres de la flotte locale. Excellente nourriture et vin et discussion amicale - à quoi d'autre pourrait-on s'attendre en France.

 

Le deuxième jour a vu une brise légèrement moindre mais toujours assez forte et stable pour terminer trois courses consécutives avec du soleil et un temps chaud. Comme les courses se déroulaient plus tôt dans la journée, la marée montante est devenue un facteur plus important, en particulier à l'approche de la marque au vent, plusieurs bateaux devant fréquemment virer de bord alors qu'ils étaient poussés sous le vent par le courant sur la piste vers la marque. Nico et Ludovic ont de nouveau montré leur vitesse de bateau supérieure avec Nico remportant l'épreuve au général, Ludovic deuxième et le marin local Huber Martin troisième grâce à une bonne série de résultats plus inscrits.
