RS Aero North American Championship - Davis Island YC, Tampa, Florida, USA, May 19-22

Thanks to Eric Robbins (the event PRO) for his report;

Ricky Welch was the overall champion at the 2022 RS Aero North American Championship held May 20-22nd at Davis Island Yacht Club in Tampa, FL. Thirty-seven competitors entered in one of three rig sizes (5, 7, 9) for eight races in a variety of conditions.

Welch also captured the RS Aero 7 Division ahead of Top Junior Callen Burnett of the host club. In the larger rig size Madhaven Thirumalai bested the RS Aero 9 Division in a tightly fought battle with Eugene Schmit. Local Caroline Young added to her recent Sunfish major trophies by winning in the smallest rig the RS Aero 5, also placing ninth overall as First Woman.

The class offers a Most Improved prize at this regatta, won by Dylan Williams two days after turning 14.Naomi Sterlingsdottir was awarded the Salt Pines charter sponsorship for a female youth sailor to compete!

Times and overall results were for the sole purpose of determining one overall winner, while all other results are within Divisions.
