Fantastic to see 11 RS Aeros out on The Bay and the fleet growing quickly there! Proven fleet building initiatives work well worldwide - welcoming new sailors, sharing the knowledge and focusing on the accessibility and the FUN!
The next big day at Richmond YC is April 16 for the Big Dinghy Regatta. Spring sailing on San Francisco Bay!

Thanks to Craig Perez for his report;

NorCal Aero Fleet Arrives!
RS Aeros made their presence felt as they put eleven boats on the line for Richmond Yacht Club’s Midwinter Series. Sunday was the fourth and final day of the series, won by RYC member Steve Smith in the RS Aero 9 division. Staff Commodore and local RS Aero Fleet Rep. Craig Perez was second, collecting the bridesmaid bouquet; someday maybe a bride. Keeping the remaining hardware home at RYC, Vice Commodore Randall Rasicot in his new Aero, finished third, besting Greg Warner (South Bay), Mike Sealey (RYC), and Patrick Grey (RYC).

In the RS Aero 7 division, Chris Davison (North Bay) finished first squeezing by RYC member Barbara Smith by ONE point; going into Sunday’s race, they were tied for first in the series. Rounding out the fleet of eleven was Ilya Volkov (Half Moon Bay), Andrew Picel (Treasure Island), and Mark Kubinec (RYC) showing some speed and solid sailing during the series.

Though the season is still young, racing has been tight with multiple winners showing that everyone has a shot. In fact, in the last race the prior month, the entire fleet finishing within *40* seconds*, first though tenth.

The fleet is strong and turning some heads, as last month alone four RYC and local sailors have purchased boats. Helping this amazing growth along is a traditional “de-briefing” held at the end of the day’s racing, having the winners “tell us all how they did it.” In addition, the RYC (anyone can join in) fleet has once a month “Blast Around” day(s) for just sailing around and sharing tips on rigging, boatspeed, and race tactics. The emphasis is on fun, fast, and flat sailing. Everyone benefits when everyone is going fast! The RYC Aero is growing fast as there are now twelve RYC members racing the boat including three National Champions from other one design fleets. Wow!
