King George Gallop (SailJuice) - King George SC, North London, UK, Saturday 22nd Jan
The 4th event of the Selden SailJuice Winter Series took place at King George SC, London, with a large mixed fleet of 71 enties including 8 RS Aeros.
A light breeze of around 4-9kn with plenty of shifts and pressure variance kept both the race officer and competitors on their toes all day for 3 challenging and enjoyable races.
RS Aero 7Race 1 - Abby Hire came through to lead the RS Aeros home, taking 5th overall just ahead of Peter Barton in 6th and Ellie Craig in 8th. David Peaty unfortunately lost a good placing with an OCS.
Race 2 - David was fast out of the blocks again and this time it was legit! With a good lead at mark 1 he steadily extended to be 1st RS Aero and 7th overall with Peter in 11th.
Race 3 - Especially tricky as the breeze started to fade. This time it was Ellie's turn to lead the RS Aeros home, scoring a hard earned 10th.
RS Aero 6Three new RS Aeros 6s were entered to make their public debut and they looked awesome on the racecourse with their PURPLE identification colour flashes! They raced off an initial 'Great Lakes Handicap' number of 1100 and results were spread around the mid fleet. The highlights were Sam Mettam's 14th in Race 1 and his keeping pace with the RS Aero 7s for periods.
RS Aero 5
It is always nice to see new enthusiastic owners join the RS Aero Class and Francesca Murphy had travelled all the way from Pembrokeshire with her brand new RS Aero. The final fittout and check was hastily finished pre-race at King George! Attending events allows new sailors to learn from the experienced fleet both onshore and afloat. Francesca gained good experience, answers and ideas to take home to South Wales.

Congratulations and thank you to all the RS Aero 7s who have played a part so far.
