Royal Prince Alfred YC East Coast Champs - Pittwater, NSW, Australia, 14-16th Jan
Congratulations to all sailors that competed at the RS Aero East Coast Championships at Royal Prince Alfred Yacht Club on Sydney’s Pittwater, NSW. The event was to have been the Australian RS Aero National Championship, but as the regatta drew near it was clear that the Victorian fleet would wisely not be taking the risk of coming to Sydney, given the spread of Omicron across Australia.
Over three days racing it turned out to be a hard fought regatta across all three rigs, with minimal points seperating the top few in each Class. Here is how it panned out...
Day 1 - Building breeze all day and great competition. Four races was a bit sporty!
Day 2 - Three races in a mixed bag of conditions. A couple of light ones and a decent 13 knots for the last race.
Day 3 - Strong southerly breeze of 12 knots+ and sunshine so fun times! RS Aero 9's and 5's were pretty much decided but it was all on in the 7's with 1 point between Hong Kong Mouse and Ratface for a showdown for the title! There is also a four way battle for third!
