Internationale Trapeze Regatta - Steinhude, Germany, 7/8 Aug
Thanks to Steve Taylor for his report;
Nice sailing again on the Steinhuder Meer for those that could not travel to the RS Aero European Champs in Italy. This time we sailed at the Hannoverscher Yacht Club, namely the International Trapeze Regatta, together with the FD and Corsairs. After our arrival on Friday and a nice evening sail, we started on Saturday with 14 RS Aeros.
On Saturday the first race had to be abandoned in the event of inconsistent and turning winds.
Then we managed to race before a passing thunderstorm drove us all off the water.
There was a nice cozy regatta evening with roasted pig and beer.
With 5 races planned over the weekend, we then had four outstanding. The predicted 22 knots of wind sometimes felt like 30 knots on the water, and made for nice survival sailing.
In fact, most sailors capsized at some pointor had to give up the races. Only Marcus Walter from DSC Langen did not, and he took 1st place home with a total of 3 races. Juliane Barthel from SC Dummer came in 2nd and Steve Taylor from the Tegel Yacht Club in Berlin took 3rd place, just ahead of Wolf Scheder-Bischin from the North German Regatta Club.
Many thanks to the Hannoverscher Yacht Club for the great event.
