Mount Dora Annual Regatta - Florida, USA, March 27/28th

This the 68th annual multi-class regatta run by the Mt Dora Yacht Club. Mt Dora is located in the middle of Florida just a little north of Orlando. This is a very well run regatta with three different race circles.
The 6 RS Aeros' started with about 5 Sunfish which worked out pretty well. The Hobie Wave's started 5 minutes ahead of us and negotiating the stragglers presented some challenges to the RS Aeros. Mt Dora delivered really decent sailing conditions on Saturday with a pretty steady 4-7Kts out of the SE. Sunday had a much more shifty and stronger SW breeze. 8-13kts of breeze. Both days were 85'F and sunny skies - picture perfect.
Bob Patterson lead the way with 5 bullets out of 7 races. I was next in 2nd followed closely by Jacques Kerrest in 3rd. Ryan Oliver was in 4th sailing my second boat. We had some pretty epic battles especially on Sunday finishing overlapped. Greg Popp was 5th and suffered in the light air on Saturday. Class newcomer Allen Gibson was 6th in his first regatta with his RS Aero.
Everyone had a pretty good time and some RS Aero punch was consumed post racing on Saturday!

Two more events for the Florida RS Aero circuit are coming up in April - The Melbourne Yacht Club spring small boat regatta and an event at Kelly Park in Cocoa.
