Lerum Special - Lerum, Sweden, 13th September
Thanks to the RS Aero & Tera Swedish Class Association for their report on the 2 event weekend that completed their 2020 GP series;
GP Series 2020 - start & final!
The GP sailings in Alingsas and Lerum became intense and tight in every way. The RS Aero & RS Tera sailors challenged each other and never gave up despite some tough winds and intense rain showers.
The GP Series' first sub-competition this year was the Autumn Regatta in Alingsas. Alingsas Segelsallskap welcomed the class association and all the RS Aero & Tera sailors with a wonderful sailing atmosphere. The changing shifts of the weather challenged everyone but according to plan, three races could be completed on Saturday.
After some good dinner and a good night's sleep, the sailors gathered again at Lerums Segelsallskap for the classic LESS Udden. A few more RS Aero and RS Tera sailors had signed up and completed another 4 races.
Both Alingsas Segelsallskap and Lerums Segelsallskap conducted timekeeping according to the class association's wishes. This so that the RS Aero sailors, regardless of sail size, could compete against each other. Thanks for their understanding and commitment.
We as a relatively new class association are happy, despite restrictions and influence from Corona, that we got to conclude the GP Series with some good race activity together.

2021 will be a really good year with an RS Tera Worlds in Copenhagen, almost at home! The RS Aero Youth World Championships in RS Aero 5 and RS Aero 7 at Travemunde Woch, Germany, and the 4th RS Aero World Championships in Lake Garda, Italy, straight afterwards. What fantastic competitions to train for together whilst sailing at home in our own GP series.
The class association's prizes were awarded to the following sailors:
- RS Tera Sport - Vilmer Johansson, LjSS
- RS Tera PRO - Sigrid Beckman, LESS
- RS Aero 5 U22 - Elisa Lindskog, KSSS
- RS Aero 7 - Bjorn Bengtsson, KKKK
- RS Aero Best Lady - Julie Lamarre, KKKK
- RS Aero Best Master - Christer Bath, GKSS
