RS Aero UK Winter Series 2019/20 - Results after 9 rounds
The interim results are now scored with 'Best 3' events to count, as will be the final scoresheet.
Already 16 sailors have qualified with 3 events and a further 22 are on the cusp having competed in 2 events. 119 sailors are in the series now, by entering at least 1 event.
Top Youth sailor Tim Hire (Royal Lym / Lym Town) retains the overall lead with a tidy 1,1,2. However, he has top RS Aero 9 sailor Greg Bartlett (Starcross) and Peter Barton (Lymington Town) hot on his heels, each with a 1,1,3. If one of those 3 sailors can win the RS Aero UK Winter Championship at the Oxford Blue on the 15th Feb then that will clinch the series for them, as that main event decides any tie breaks.
Top RS Aero 5 sailor and 2nd Youth on the scoresheet is Sam Blaker (Thorpe Bay) in 5th who had an excellent Tiger Trophy as 5th RS Aero there and 20th overall from 148 entries. A close battle is developing between the Youth Ladies in their RS Aero 5s with just 4 points separating Abigail Larr (Northampton), Lily Barrett (Island Barn) and Abby Hire (Royal Lymington) in 7-9th places. Chris Jones (Sutton Bingham) in 10th leads the Masters title from Nigel Rolfe (Burghfield).
The results remain wide open with 5 events still to race and anyone can still clinch the title in the late winter.
The remaining 5 events are;
10. Highcliffe Icicle #3 - Highcliffe SC, Christchurch Harbour, Dorset, Sun 9 Feb
11. RS Aero UK Winter Champs at The Oxford Blue (Sailjuice) - Oxford SC, Sat 15 Feb
12. Chichester Snowflake #4 - West Sussex, Sun 23 Feb
13. Frensham Frenzy - Frensham Pond SC, Surrey, Sun 8 Mar
14. Exmoor Beastie - Wimbleball SC, Sun 15 Mar

Two new events add variety and interest. The Chichester Snowflake is well supported by RS Aeros, particularly from Chichester YC and Felpham SC and the Exmoor Beastie at Wimbleball SC is a wonderfully beautiful country location at southern England's highest sailing club on Exmoor.

Tim Hire retains the lead in in the Youth category. Abigail Larr and Abbey Hire hold 3rd and 4th in the younger Junior category.
In the Top Class award it is all to play for between the RS Aero 7s and Lasers going into to final event! The top three in every race in the series count towards that.
