Write-Up

King George Gallop (Sailjuice) - King George SC, North London, UK, 26th Jan
Round 6 of the Selden SailJuice Winter Series
Round 8 of the RS Aero UK Winter Series

What a day! Mild but windy, with 3 races held in an increasing wind from 10kn quickly building the 20kn gusts for the 2nd & 3rd races. With long laps around King George's reservoir the 64 mixed class starters were set for an exciting day, awesome early season race practice and an excellent workout!

All RS Aeros had a difficult challenge to take on in the large mixed fleets. The RS Aero 7s and 9s started in the fast fleet contending with larger faster boats off their start line with good clear air lanes hard to find. Similarly the RS Aero 5s had plenty of faster boats on their slow fleet start and had the same challenge of hunting clear air and good reliable lanes.

Peter Barton opened with two good starts to hold good results for a 9th overall. Tim Hire came good in the last race to come through to a 9th. Well done to Ellie Craig and her girl power for hiking down her RS Aero 7 on a breezy day to help keep the Class' hopes alive for the SailJuice Top Class accolade (top 3 sailors from a Class in every race of the series).

A fantastic fleet of 8 RS Aero 5s turned out after having so much fun at the Bloody Mary! David Peaty led the RS Aero 5s in each race to gain a hard earned 20th overall. Lily Barrett scored top female in the Class in each race to take 26th.

Well done to everybody for giving it their all for a big day's racing on a blustery winter's day!

* The RS Aero 5s were the largest Class there with 8 boats!
* The RS Aero 7s move up a place to 2nd overall in the Top-Class results, from 81 Classes, with two events remaining.
* Tim Hire retains his lead as top Youth and moves up to 5th out of 610 entries in the overall series!

Next Up - in the Selden SailJuice Series is Rutland's Tiger Trophy this weekend on the 1/2nd Feb. Then it's the big one - the RS Aero UK Winter Championship at the Oxford Blue on Saturday 15th! Pop your entries in here.
