The 2018 HOOD regatta at Houston YC produced nine RS Aero Sailors who braved the rainy conditions that have been plaguing the Texas coast. Saturday gave two nice long races that saw the fleet stay amazingly close together. In the medium breeze and choppy conditions, the 7's were able to keep in touch with the 9's and the top two places ended up being 7's. The last race saw the fleet get chased off the water by HEAVY rain during the third race with Hank pulling a horizon job on the fleet, sorry buddy.
We woke up Sunday with a light westerly wind, the absolute worst direction for Galveston Bay wind. Two more races were sailed seeing wind shifts of 40 - 50 degrees.
KO Sailing did their usual great job in getting charter boats on the water. I expect a couple of the charterer's to end up buying new boats.
The next two events will be the Govenor's Cup at Austin YC the last weekend in October followed by Wurstfest Nov 2-4. I expect at least 15 maybe more for Wurstfest with the gang from Viridian and Austin adding to the already strong showing we will have. Who knows, maybe even 2-time RS Aero 9 World Champion, Marc Jacobi, might even show up.
