Write-Up
Thanks to Ash Beatty for his report from Seabrook, Houston, USA - Stage 2 of the Texas Circuit;
The Seabrook Sailing Club Summer Solstice regatta is in the books with Hank Saurage again winning in his 7. To say it was hot would be an understatement. The conditions were about as harsh as Galveston Bay has to offer as a high pressure system set in over the weekend shutting off the normal seabreeze.
Light winds and 100+ degree heat made things tough even for this Texas boy. It was HOT! The Aero's spent most of the regatta sailing up thru the Laser fleet and in one race Hank and I passed the entire fleet of Lasers. We started with the Portsmouth class which included a Weta, a couple of Vanguard 15's and some others. We never saw anyone but the Weta and a V15 every once in a while. The best comment I've heard on the Aero came from the Weta sailor who said "The Aero's are annoyingly fast".
Many thanks to Greg Popp for flying over from Florida to sail with us and to Simeon Thomas who drove down from Colorado. I know he was suffering in the heat. Did I mention that it was HOT!!
