Great to see 5 southern Californian RS Aeros out at Alamitos Bay YC in Los Angeles, California.

 

Jim Muir looks to have dominated the nine race series - but Doug DuBois finally managed to take a win from him in the very last one!

 

'We raced inside the bay for some fun, casual racing. After racing on Saturday a couple of the RC crew took our boats out for a sail and came back smiling. ABYC was excited to see a new class at their regatta and look forward to us attending their Labor Day regatta September 10-11. 'Nine races were run in the protected waters of Alamitos Bay, giving us flat water but shifty and gusty breeze in the 6 to 12 knot range. Some courses took us into even more protected areas of the bay, resulting in mid-race "restarts" as the fleet bunched up in the wind holes, putting a premium on being able to shift gears quickly. The bay courses gave the less experienced a chance to figure out sail boat racing, and Aero newbies a chance to figure out the boat. The ABYC committee did a wonderful job with great courses and efficient race management. I'm looking forward to sailing in the ocean next time, as conditions looked fantastic on the outside.'
