RS Aero SpeedSix Channel Challenge
07/04/2017 00:03:10In September 2017 Ben Rolfe, Liam Willis and James George are planning to sail the English Channel in RS Aero's! They are aiming to beat the current Guinness World Record by sailing from Cap Gris Nez to Dover in less than 3 hours and 55 minutes The exact date will be determined nearer the time dependent upon weather.
Ben has experienced big seas in the RS Aero before as one of the intrepid six RS Aeros to venture
out on Big Sunday at Barcelona, the final day of the 2015 RS Aerocup when racing had to be cancelled. He is confident that the lightweight, fast planning RS Aero will cope well the channel chop on a breezy day and put in a great time too.
Liam's first RS Aero outing was one of his windiest when at just 14yrs a 35 knot squal came through at the
Hayling Training in 2014. He won the racing that day, only the second race series ever for the RS Aero at the time, and now at 17yrs he is winning major events with his 9 rig!
James George brings a wealth of experience to the Team, helping to keep the young guns safe!
SpeedSix will be providing the team with some go fast hull polish,
to gain that extra speed for the World Record.
