The sailing event of the year for many sailors from the region: the Rhine race. This year the 58th competition. The first Arnhem-Wageningen Race was sailed in 1958! A great tradition.
The long course on the Rhine, with the curves, the cribs, the shipping and the lee, makes it a competition for the real river sailors. The start is at Heteren. From there to Opheusden, back upstream to the Bovenste Polder, then to the finish in the port of Wageningen, a 17 km total. Starts are in a few groups, and sail times are corrected with SW so that every boat can participate. If necessary, open boats can get a tow from Wageningen to Heteren in the morning (at 11am and 11.30am). In the evening there is a barbecue, award ceremony and party in the clubhouse of Vada.
The competition is organised by the three Clubs Vada, Peter Hensen and Giesbeek, with the main sponsor of Watersportcentrum Arnhem .
