Congratulations to our RS Aero designer, Jo Richards, on his Round the Island Race win on Saturday. Jo was ably crewed by our Class Measurer, David Rickard, and another RS Aero sailor friend, Duncan De Boltz, again and this gives them back-to-back victories in the Round the Island Race retaining the prestigious Gold Roman Bowl which they have held since the 2019 race with their local Cowes boat Eeyore, an Alacrity 18 Bilge Keel.
It was the 90th anniversary edition and a huge fleet of over 1200 boats showed how much people love taking part in this event. On the water there was everything from flat calm to 25 knot gusts, fog and sun.

Jo, David and Duncan were not the only champions out that day. Arriving early to the Lymington Dinghy Regatta at 08:30 I spotted an empty RS Aero trolley already at the slipway. Peter Conway had launched before 05:00 to spectate and duke it out with the big boats racing around the Isle of Wight. Here he is blasting his RS Aero 5 through the lee of a 40'er! If that was not impressive enough, just the day before he had been afloat for 4-5 hours on a picnic cruise to the Island. Not bad for late 80's - there is hope for us all yet!
