🏁 RS Aero EST Inland Championships 2026 🇪🇪

The Inland Championships returned to beautiful Lake Võrtsjärv on 16–17 May for the 4th edition of the event, hosted by Võrtsjärve Jahtklubi at Veldemani. Over the past few years, this regatta has become the traditional season opener for RS classes in South Estonia, where the inland climate and the shallow lake water warm up much earlier than on the coast, offering ideal spring sailing conditions.

A total of 60 RS boats made the trip across the Tera, Feva and Aero fleets, with 15 RS Aeros on the start line. Sailors were greeted by a steady 3–6 m/s breeze and flat water, producing three enjoyable races in classic Aero conditions. Close racing throughout the fleet set the tone for what promises to be another strong season for the class in Estonia.

🏆 Aero 6 Inland Champion 2026: Kristo Õunap (SMS), competing in his very first regatta, made an impressive debut by taking two race wins to secure the title ahead of clubmate Tanel Šmalko.

🏆 Aero 5 Inland Champion 2026: Jorgen Kuivonen (Hiiu Purjelaeva Selts), who celebrated by christening his brand-new Aero in the fresh waters of Võrtsjärv.

The event once again showcased the growing enthusiasm for RS Aeros in Estonia, with a fantastic mix of experienced sailors and newcomers enjoying competitive but friendly racing. Huge thanks go to Võrtsjärve Jahtklubi and all volunteers for delivering another excellent championship.
