RS Aero UK River Champs

7th Sept

A total of 23 RS Aero’s competed on the River Severn for the 4th RS Aero UK River Championships. Class racing was held with fourteen sailors opting for the RS Aero 9 rig and nine choosing the RS Aero 7.

Thanks to Rooster for their support in providing a selection of their race gloves for all the winners and to Avon SC for hosting another excellent day out at their lovely spot on the River Severn with many of the visitors staying over and camping on site with a barbecue and disco into the early hours!

RS Aero UK River Championships

This will be the 4th RS Aero UK River Champs for the Class, returning to the venue of the inaugural event at Avon SC on the River Severn in Gloucestershire.

We had 23 RS Aeros racing that day on the 60m wide Severn and with the wind funnelling straight up the river racing was incredible fun and excellent practice too, whilst a little different from our usual racing.

RS Aero UK River Championships

Avon SC hosted the first annual RS Aero UK River Champs in 2016 and we look forward to returning again to their pretty location for the 2019 event.

There are many RS Aeros based on rivers throughout the UK and river sailing requires some specific skills providing an interesting challenge that can then improve your open water sailing too. The light and nimble RS Aero provides a really rewarding and enjoyable river racing challenge!

There is a good 60m of width on the River Severn at Avon SC, providing space for a good fleet.
