It has been an awesome Worlds in Australia with fantastic racing in a mix of conditions. The fleet is already looking forward to the 4th RS Aero World Championship in August 2020 at the Columbia River Gorge, Oregon, USA. Charter RS Aeros are available to book now at a discount rate until the end of January and online entry is already open. A Pre-Worlds and Coaching Clinic precede the World Championships for those who fancy an extended stay at one of the Worlds most iconic venues.

The heat is on in Australia as temperatures are set to soar to 40'C at the Finn Gold Cup in Melbourne this week.

The RS Aeros will have their own gold to race for over New Year. Who will have one of these medals around their neck come 4th January?

LATE ENTRIES

The Early Rate has already passed and we are in the Late Rate now. However the 'Late Late Rate' kicks in after the 6th Dec so if you are planning on competing and have not yet signed up you need to enter and pay this week to secure the lower rate.

This will help the organisers with the final preparations for the event.

Come and join the fun and the opportunity, as the RS Aero Worlds visit Australia!

*Worlds Social Programme*

Planning and preparation for the 2019 RS Aero Worlds are going to guarantee a truly memorable regatta for competitors and visitors alike. The on water racing will be second to none and hopefully the weather will turn on the magnificent sea breezes for which Black Rock Yacht Club is famous.

The four social events are locked in. The Welcome Evening includes a traditional Aussie barbecue dinner, For New Years Eve the club will be rocking with a live band. Enjoy a complimentary champagne cocktail and canapes as you prepare to welcome in 2020.

Two nights later it is Pizza Night with the pizzas being prepared locally by a renowned Italian Pizzeria. The Presentation Dinner features a two course sit down dinner. And of course, during the event there will be the opportunity to enjoy the occasional free beer and sausage sizzle after sailing.

Each competitor has the full programme included inn their entry fee.
For Visitors there is the the opportunity at registration to buy a Combined Ticket for all four functions for AUD $120. This ticket will also give you the member pricing rate at the club bar and bistro.

Individual pricing for the events is Welcome Evening $35, New Years Eve $35, Pizza Night $25 and Presentation Dinner $45 so the combined ticket saves you $20, plus the more you drink the more you will save...

20 more RS AEROs in AUSTRALIA!

RS Aero activity is heating up down-under with the spring temperatures, in time for the Worlds over New Year.

Twenty Aeros arrived last week for new owners. Six were immediately rigged and prepped for delivery. Two are heading to Adelaide to join the growing fleet at Largs Bay SC.

The main Charter fleet has set sail from the UK but before it did all the RS Aeros where fully prepared by RS Sailing's team of ninjas, right down to everyone's national letters and sail numbers. So we can all hit the water planing once the RS Aeros are unloaded at Black Rock!

The Entry List has now been updated with all those shiny new 30-- and 31-- series sail numbers!

Remember to pay your entry before the end of Oct to secure the early rate.
Details of payment are on the entry confirmation email.

SETTING SAIL for AUSTRALIA!

An averagely busy Friday at RS HQ last week as a small Armada of 33 RS Aeros were stacked & packed into containers to set sail around the world to Australia, ready for the 3rd RS Aero World Championship at Black Rock Yacht Club in Melbourne, over New Year.

RS Sailing have confirmed that they can take charter RS Aero bookings for the Australian World Champs this New Year for international visitors for the next few days but a 'hard' deadline is Sept 27th. The RS Aeros need to be prepared and then shipped from the UK by mid Oct. Just a few remain available to fill the second container, totalling up to 40 charter RS Aeros available for the international visitors.

Accommodation

There are a range of accommodation options available in the locality.

Backpacker style Accommodation -

'33 on the Bay'

The freshly decorated rooms include a queen sized bed, wardrobe and small table and chairs.
Communal bathrooms (two bedrooms per bathroom), lounge areas with TV plus kitchen facilities and use of the garden.
Situated in the centre of Sandringham village, all facilities including railway station, restaurants, supermarkets, banks and the Sandy Pub all within 300 metres.

BRYC is 2.5km – a 30 minute walk or 10 minute bike ride along the shore cycle path. In addition a shuttle bus will be arranged.

- International Visitors seeking to charter are able to do so via RS Sailing's Charter Boat booking and payment system , price £700 (GBP). Please take time to read the 'Charter FAQ' and 'Charter Guide' on that page. Any further queries please email Vikki at RS.

- Australians seeking to charter at the Worlds or other earlier AUS events should contact Sailing Raceboats in Australia, price $1,500 (AUD)

Hey Peter Heywood, Let's not scare people too much. Sure Port Phillip gets up, but we do have wind limits and the PRO would have the AP ready if not flying on the pole. Over the course of a regatta we could have anything from a light drifter, sunny 5-10 knots, glorious 10-15 knots, and testers to 20-22 with gusts and fantastic surfing and climbing up the back of or around the wave in front. There will be something for everyone, and everyone will be smiling :-). Isn't that why we have drops over the course of the regatta, for the light weights in a blow, and the heavy weights when the breeze is light? And yes, I do plan to be practicing regularly at BRYC (Block Rock) in the months before the regatta. At 75kg, I'll be sticking to my (7) rig across the full wind range. WORLDS TRAINING
Wave and wind training at Lymington!

The Lymington RS Aeros were out preparing for whatever Port Phillip Bay, Melbourne, might kick up in the afternoon breezes. Lots of fun working to understand how to effectively sail through waves in the higher wind ranges and thus extend competitive limits.

We were all buzzing when we got back ashore - More fun practices to come!

The 2019 RS Aero World Championship visits Port Phillip Bay, Australia!
Sunshine, sea breezes, great racing and a wonderful new year break!

Black Rock YC have an excellent record of hosting major championships, holding both the Australian OK and Finn Championships consecutively earlier this year. World Championships are regularly hosted at the club including several OK Worlds and Finn Gold Cups over the years.

The racing on Port Phillip Bay is world class and one of Australia's prime regatta venues. A good variety of racing conditions is likely with a range of both wind strength and sea state providing an interesting challenge. Sea breezes can build through the day and the size of the bay allows a good swell to build up – perfect for surfing those RS Aeros!

Situated in the picturesque Half Moon Bay there is a sheltered beach for launching that is ideal for families to relax in the sun. The Cerberus Beach House Cafe next door offers both fine dining and take away fish and chips – take your pick!
