25 RS Aeros turned out at Marina di Camerota for the first event of the RS Aero and National OpenSkiff season in Italy! Marina di Camerota is situated in the south of the country 150km south of Naples, the pearl of the Cilento region, in Campania. It offers splendid beaches, a fantastic mountainous backdrop and excellent sailing - all in a wonderful climate!

The RS Aeros competed alongside the Open Skiff Class and the event, organised by Cilento a Vela, saw the participation of around 130 boats from all over Italy, marking an important milestone for the club, which for the first time ran a competition of this magnitude.

After a windless start on both Saturday and Sunday Marina di Camerota delivered two excellent days of sailing, allowing 4 race for the RS Aeros and 5 for the OpenSkiffs. The organisation was impeccable thanks to Cilento a Vela. Spectators could admire the regatta course easily from the shore. The regatta was a success that united sport, tourism and culture! Marina di Camerota has proven that it can host large sailing events, confirming itself as a fantastic regatta destination!

The final rankings saw athletes from clubs all over Italy, from north to south, on the podium, with local representatives standing out thanks to good placings by Circolo Nautico Posillipo.

RS Aero 5 Youth:
Mattia Monti (CN Rimini) wins with three first places, ahead of Enrico Loi (LNI Cagliari) and Chiara Sussarello (LNI Sulcis).

RS Aero 6:
A Sardinian hat-trick with Leonardo Nonnis (LNI Cagliari) leading, followed by Filippo Vincis (LNI Sulcis) and Alice Sussarello (LNI Sulcis).

RS Aero 7:
Podium all-round to Tognazzi Marine Village (Rome) with Stefano De Carolis, Roy Van Maanen (IRL) and Stefano Sirolli.

Next up for the Italian RS Aeros is their hosting the rest of the European RS Aeros with the RS Aero European Championship at CV Arco on the north shore of Lake Garda, 24-27th April.
