Three days over the Bank Holiday weekend saw Restronguet SC hold their first RS Aero event - the RS Aero UK South West Championships 2025. 15 sailors competed in sunny and challenging conditions around the beautiful Falmouth Harbour with the success of the event marking a poignant tribute to Restronguet SC's Commodore and keen RS Aero sailor and fleet builder, John Calvert.
Congratulations to overall winner and first RS Aero 7, Dave Buzzard, the first recipient of the new perpetual trophy for the event! Top Junior and top RS Aero 5 was 17 year old Noah Carden. 3rd overall and 1st visitor was Mike Upton from Exe SC in his 7 rig. George Lenney took 4th overall and 2nd Junior whilst Simon Loveridge was 1st Master in 5th overall.
Thanks to Kari-Tek for their generous sponsorship and prizes including a car-top boat carrier for the winner's dinghy worth more than £1000 and many other vouchers spread through the fleet.
Thanks to Restronguet SC for an excellent first event, to Patrick Clarke for his wonderful organising and to John Calvert for his enthusiasm in building to local fleet in Falmouth Harbour to enable fun RS Aero racing there.

The SIs will be published tomorrow, so be sure to get your entry in soonest. Do not forget to book your tickets for the BBQ on Saturday evening when you make your entry, as we need to know numbers ahead of the event please.
The sponsors will be on site to demonstrate their Aero-specific car topping system produced by Kari-Tek Products.

In 2025 the RS Aero Southwestern Champs visits Falmouth in Cornwall to enjoy the beautiful setting of Restronguet Sailing Club at Mylor, overlooking the Carrick Roads. The racing area is within sight of the clubhouse and there is a campsite run by Coastland backing onto the club.
A six-race series is scheduled over the 3-day event with additional option of racing along with the club on Sunday afternoon for free.
The social programme includes a pre-booked BBQ on Saturday, a pay-as-you-go supper at a local restaurant close to the club on Sunday, and a Cornish Tea to whet the appetite for the prize giving on Monday.
